Kites by Jim

Jim Thompson

My kites are a wonder to see: a menagerie of beasts and birds and an occasional human. I construct the traditional diamond-shaped kites with craft paper, wooden dowels, and fish line. I use acrylics to paint a face with eyes staring directly at the viewer, so you have the sense that it is you, not them, being viewed. I have been featured in many publications, on radio, and on WCAX TV's "Made in Vermont" segment. Two of my kites were featured in an exhibit of kites from around the world at the Eretz Museum in Tel Aviv, Israel.
